THE STORY BEHIND WIRELINE TRUCK FAB
The story of Wireline Truck Fab began long before the company officially opened its doors.
In 1974, Billy Smith began his career in the wireline industry. After years of working in the field, he founded his own independent wireline company in Seguin, Texas, where he operated wireline trucks that he personally refurbished and maintained. As more operators saw the quality and reliability of his equipment, one question kept coming up:
"Who built your trucks?"
That simple question inspired a new vision.
Billy recognized the industry's need for quality, affordable wireline equipment built by people who truly understood how it would be used in the field.
Growing up alongside his father, Ricky Smith developed that same passion for the industry. Beginning at a young age, he spent countless hours on wireline jobs, eventually working as a rigger during his teenage years. After high school, Ricky expanded his technical expertise by becoming a Certified RV Technician and managing a successful RV service center, where he gained extensive experience in electrical systems, fabrication, hydraulics, diagnostics, and mechanical service.
In 2004, Billy sold his wireline company, and together he and Ricky founded Wireline Truck Fab. Combining decades of field experience with technical expertise, they built a company focused on manufacturing dependable equipment designed by people who had actually worked with it.
Today, Ricky continues to lead Wireline Truck Fab while carrying forward the values that have guided the company since its beginning: quality workmanship, practical innovation, integrity, and exceptional customer service. Billy's legacy lives on through every truck we build and every customer relationship we earn.
